seven
7 is a collaborative, immersive theater experience about the seven deadly sins. Written and choreographed by the ensemble members, this performance cautions the tragedies of succumbing to your darkest impulses. Inspired by Dante’s Inferno, it follows the chronicled stories of 7 individuals whose sinful lives damned them to suffer in limbo, eternally. They are forced to relive a nightmarish version of their worst crimes.
From the minds of 7 Cal State Long Beach graduates, this interpretive piece utilizes movement and dance to tell these dangerous tales. The Prophets have always had an inclination toward darkness and taboos- this show was thoughtfully devised through the theater threshold program at CSULB. This space allowed us to write, direct, and stage our own work as young actors.
Seven has defined the Prophets and our creative passions- anything and everything that pushes the boundaries of comfort and reality.
In its debut, 7 took the stage in April of 2019 on the campus of Cal State Long Beach. With a team compiled of classmates and good friends, this show will always bring us back down to earth.
To no surprise, 7 was performed again for 3 consecutive nights at The Zephyr Theater in Hollywood. New Prophets joined this cast to continue the story of the 7 deadly sins. We sold out both opening and closing nights in this 75 seat theater.
Due to insatiable demand… 7 was asked back for a final rendition in December of 2019, at The Garage Theater in Long Beach, California. After 3 final successful nights, 7 has been laid to rest..for good?
